ATIP & STEER conducted a meeting - sdn

The American Center for International Labor Solidarity (Solidarity Center) and its various partners (including ROTARACT CLUB OF METRO SURIGAO) unders its special project entitled "Strengthening the Enabling Environment to improve Response to TIP and Related Cases (STEER)" conducted the Anti-Trafficking In Persons (ATIP) Local Technical Working Group (TWG) last January 07, 2007 at Gold Room Hotel Tavern Surigao City.
The project has addressed with two (2) major objectives: a. to improve the capacity of government, NGOs (together with the ROTARACT CLUB OF METRO SURIGAO) and community-support groups at the national and local levels to generate reliable, on-th-ground information and maintain a centralized database in trafficking and related cases, including thier status; b. strengthen cooperation among government entities, trade unions and other NGOs (with ROTARACT CLUB OF METRO SURIGAO) in destination and source communities in monitoring trafficking in persons complaints and cases, documentation and case build-up, and take action including rescue, repatriation and rehabilitation of trafficking victims.

In SURIGAO DEL NORTE, the said project through the effort of ROTARACT CLUB OF METRO SURIGAO there are two (2) resolutions from the Municipalities of San Jose and Loreto Dinagat Islands forwarded to the office of Philippine Information Agency.

The said meeting is attended by the different government offices and NGOs and ROTARACT CLUB OF METRO SURIGAO attended by PRES. DARIO FRACKS C. APOLE.

The ATIP and STEER made through funds provided by the US Department of State, G/TIP to the Solidarity Center Philippine Office.
